What do you need to install KorvAI?
KorvAI is built natively for Apple silicon Macs running macOS 15 or later. It does not run on Intel Macs. There is nothing else to prepare: you do not need a separate AI subscription to install the app, only to sign in to an AI coding tool later if you want to chat-edit.
How do you install and launch KorvAI?

Download KorvAI
Go to trykorvai.com and enter your email to start the 7-day trial, download KorvAI, then open it to install the app. Use the same email when KorvAI asks for it.

Work through Get set up
A first-run checklist card walks you through connecting an AI chat tool and the rest of setup, or you can skip straight to editing.
What does the Get set up checklist do?
The Get set up card on the home screen has four rows:
- AI chat. Checks whether you already have Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI or Qwen Code installed and signed in, and offers to install or sign in to one if not.
- Captions speech model. Starts downloading the speech model used for captions in the background as soon as you launch the app. You do not need to wait for it; captions can start before the download finishes.
- AI generation (optional). Lets you connect an AI generation provider with your own API key if you want AI-generated video, image or voice content. This is separate from the AI chat tool and entirely optional.
- Start with a Free Style. A button that drops you straight into editing with a free look, if you would rather skip the rest of the checklist for now.
You can dismiss the checklist and bring it back later from Settings, General, Show Setup Again, or from the Help menu's Show Setup Checklist.
What permissions does KorvAI ask for?
KorvAI only asks for microphone access, and only when you first record a voiceover onto the timeline, since that feature records from your microphone. It does not request camera, contacts, calendar or automation permissions. KorvAI is not sandboxed, because it needs to run the AI coding tool you already have installed on your Mac, such as Claude Code, in a real terminal session under your own account.
How do updates work?
Choose Korvai, Check for Updates from the menu bar at any time. KorvAI also checks for updates automatically in the background, roughly once a day, and updates are verified before they are installed.
How do you uninstall KorvAI?
Move the KorvAI app from Applications to the Trash, the same as any other Mac app. Your projects are plain folders on disk, not locked inside the app, so uninstalling KorvAI does not touch your edits. Keep the project folders wherever you like, or move them to another Mac if you reinstall KorvAI there.
